Hike Description: "Beautiful forest trail between Joyce-Access Road and PA-J-4000 road—downhill slope. Then we will
continue along the ‘4000’ road to a view point. About 7 miles round trip. Moderate and longer than most Sunday hikes."

There were 19 hikers. Several of the hikers were volunteers involved in creating this part of the trail network.

At first, it seemed we were on a troubled hike. There was the dusty drive up a narrow logging road. As we got near the trail
head, we encountered a group of seedy looking rednecks with firearms including scopes doing target practice. For the first few
minutes, the air rang loudly with gun shots. But then it stopped, and it was a quiet hike in ferns and spring greens.

The hike was a downhill hike with
the last bit along a logging road with
signs of impending change.

Fortunately, it was not a steep hike
up and it caused us to pause more
to take in the view.
