More Broken Island Pictures
One evening a
couple of bears
came by our
lodge. They were
browsing along
the water line
turning over
rocks to find sea
life to eat.
After the bear
finished browsing
for sea food, he
came over to the
apple tree next to
the lodge and
climbed to the top
looking for
apples. It was
dusk which is why
you only see his
silhouette in the
tree. After the
bear disappeared
from the top of
the picture I
asked our host if
it was ok to go
out to the tree
and see if he was
still there. She
said it was fine as
long as I made
noise as she and
the bear
frequently stood
side by side at
the back of the
lodge picking
berries. The bear
was gone, but
when we took the
boat back to Port
Alberni, we saw a
continuous string
of bears along
the shore line
browsing the
rocks for seafood.
