Jasper to Fort Smith continued
Since we had driven 180 miles out of our way for this spectacle, we spent the next two hours watching the buffalo. We
had minor interruptions every five or ten minutes by a vehicle going to or from Yellowknife.
So far
mosquitoes
have not been
too bad.
However, a
road
construction
woman
directing
traffic was
dressed in the
appropriate
garb.
At rest stops
and picnic
areas, free
firewood was
available for
travelers using
these facilities.
On our arrival at Fort Smith this
afternoon, June 21, we walked down
to Pelican rapids where we saw
hundreds of pelicans.
The trip up from Port Angeles has
been spectacular. Good roads all the
way with dirt roads for the last 90
miles of a 1500 mile trip (plus detour).
