Jasper
For our third Arctic trip we chose to drive to the Northwest Territories. We left Port Angeles mid-afternoon on June 15, 2006. Our
scheduled first stop was Jasper National Park in Alberta. The drive to Jasper was less than 600 miles and should normally require
no more than 12 hours driving time from Port Angeles. The roads were excellent. Most important, the scenery from the
US/Canadian border to Jasper was astounding the whole trip. It was continuous mountain ranges, waterfalls like Yosemite, and
free flowing rivers brimming with rushing water. Few places in the world offer such spectacular scenery over such a long distance.

Our trip to Jasper and our two days in Jasper was mostly cloudy with intermittent showers.

The pictures below were all taken in Jasper. One of the trails we hiked is the same trail we hiked on our honeymoon eighteen
years ago at this same time of year.
We stayed at a log cabin on this lake. The mountain in the background is Pyramid Peak.
