Adams River (continued)
Jackie and I first visited this phenomena in 2002. We enjoyed the trip so much that we mentioned it to Bob Stolz who organizes trips for the
Newcomers group. Bob did a fantastic job of organizing the venture to the Adams river which included 20 participants.

The 2002 Sockeye run was the best in decades. This year's run was still spectacular even though the quantity was probably a more average
2 million Sockeye. The weather was great.  The group was fun loving and homogeneous, and the food and lodging were exceptional.
When the salmon finish spawning, they
die. Eventually there are two million
carcases along the river to provide
nutrients for the young when they
hatch.

Below, you can see salmon swmming
up the main channel of the Adams
river and see the carcases as well.
Carcases may be evident in other
pictures as well including the video.
In addition to the salmon, we were
pleased to encounter a beaver seated
on a log in a pond adjacent to the
Adams river.
